Key details about the role and the candidate

The Ethics & Compliance Advisor shall assist the Senior Compliance Manager with the design and delivery of KCA Deutag’s compliance function globally. The role is responsible for assisting with and embedding the compliance program for the Group, focusing on anti-bribery, corruption, business ethics, G&E etc, as well as sanctions, trade sanctions and control as well as advising upon regulatory and anti-competition issues. Designing and delivering awareness training, and handling and rolling out policies and procedures. Assisting with investigations in liaison with other functions, delivering clear conclusions to the appropriate committees, and following up on issues, and generally maturing the current compliance culture. Assuming day to day frontline responsibility for such matters where required. Ability to travel when required.

You and the role

Responsible for providing efficient support to the business.  The role will involve leading tasks independently and liaising with the Senior Compliance Manager, for the purposes of updating on the status of tasks and projects, seeking senior support and assistance where required and involving the identified senior staff members in key decisions. 

Primary responsibilities

 Providing support to the Senior Compliance Manager, The Ethics and Compliance Advisor will be accountable for, but not limited to:

  • Global Compliance Program: assisting the Senior Compliance Manager with the management and maturity of the Groups global compliance program, which includes identifying the compliance requirements for the Group and setting out an annual compliance action plan and managing the successful delivery of the same, ensuring technical excellence and a practical business driven approach.  Supervises compliance and provides reasonable assurance on compliance with laws, statutory requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Anti-Trust: involvement in any anti-trust review, provision of policies procedures and advice.
  • Sanctions, involvement in sanction advice for the Group and active management of the same.
  • Trade controls/Import and Export, a strong background on import and export, trade controls and other key regulations re assets and provisions of the KCA Deutag business.
  • Training: designing and providing support, training and education across the Group to build risk awareness and outline emphasis on the importance of compliance and ethics within KCA Deutag. Designing the annual compliance training program and rolling that out.
  • Reporting: assisting with the preparation of reports to various boards and committees as necessary. 
  • Policies and Procedures: assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of appropriate and robust policies, procedures and controls to effectively govern and manage the compliance program and protecting the Company from compliance risks both domestically and internationally while fostering individual accountability.
  • Investigation and Assessments: assists with the coordination of internal compliance audits, assessments and control activities, including periodic reviews. Performs independent investigations and take actions on compliance matters. Assists with external audits, as necessary.

Experience

  •  A well proven international compliance background
  •  Experience on a vast range of international compliance related issues
  •  Having worked internationally in a compliance function. Understanding of the key aspects of oil and gas and/or energy businesses, some drilling contract and/or service provider experience is useful
  •  Experience in handling contentious and non-contentious compliance matters, managing external counsel advice and spend

 Qualifications

  • LLB (Hons) or a degree in a relevant field
